Sulfomethylation of radiata pine kraft lignin and its use as a molybdenite depressant in selective chalcopyrite-molybdenite separation by flotation

چکیده

Sulfomethylation of radiata pine kraft lignin was performed using formaldehyde and sodium sulfite under alkaline conditions to determine its potential as a mineral depressant for the separation molybdenite chalcopyrite by froth flotation. Optimal sulfomethylation reaction were 20% (w/w) Na2SO3 at 130 °C 4.2 h, which resulted in with sulfonate content 2.2 mmol/g. Microflotation assays showed that optimized sulfomethylated (OSKL) depressed flotation 93% 200 mg/L OSKL, while only 5% depression achieved. The performance OSKL compared those commercial lignosulfonates, displayed better ability separate chalcopyrite, even lower concentration doses. FTIR 1H-NMR analyses sulfonic groups incorporated into C5 position aromatic ring aliphatic chain OSKL. hydroxymethyl increased, most β-O-4′, β-1′ β-5′ bonds broken, exception β-β’ bond. gives chemical characteristics wood-based depressant, making it an alternative current reagents used chalcopyrite-molybdenite process.

The Interaction between Ca2+ and Molybdenite Edges and Its Effect on Molybdenum Flotation

In this paper, the influence of Ca2+ on the flotation of a skarn type molybdenum ore and pure molybdenite mineral at pH 8 was studied using diesel as the collector. It was found that Ca2+ had little effect on molybdenum flotation at low concentrations. By further increasing Ca2+ concentration, the floatability of molybdenite—especially from the fine size fractions—was depressed even without the...

XPS and ab initio calculation of surface states of sulfide minerals: pyrite, chalcopyrite and molybdenite

Sulfide minerals contain sulphur in a large variety of coordination environments. Consequently, the S 2p XPS of various mineral surface states undergo different shifts in binding energy (BE) relative to the bulk, depending on the charge distribution on the surface. This in turn depends on the number, type and position of the atoms on the fracture surface, which is determined by the fracture mec...

Effects of pH and pulp potential on the selective separation of Molybdenite from the Sungun Cu-Mo concentrate

In this research, selective flotation of Mo from the Sungun Cu-Mo concentrate was evaluated in different operating conditions. It was found that the addition of 16 kg/t Na2S into flotation pulp and aeration decreased rapidly the initial oxidized- reduction potential (ORP) of the pulp from +228mV to -597 mV (with reference to standard Ag/AgCl electrode) and increasing the amount of Na2S by 50kg/...
